We are extremely pleased to announce that the University of Huddersfield has joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system. The University of Huddersfield’s researchers are dedicated to solving the problems and answering the questions posed by industry, science and society as a whole. Huddersfield has also been extremely active in the open-access sphere with its own OA press.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Huddersfield: “I am delighted that Huddersfield has joined the OLH LPS model. As a long-time supporter of OA, with its own OA press operating since 2010, Huddersfield clearly understands the challenges faced, in particular, by the humanities disciplines in embracing OA. With our unique model, we hope to change that.”

Martin Gill, Head of Academic Services, added: “We see OLH as an exciting opportunity in academic publishing. We look forward to working with them as part of our commitment to open access publishing.”
