We are very pleased to announce that Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and its Media and Information Centre (MIZ) have joined the Open Library of Humanities' Library Partnership Subsidy system. ZHdK is one of the leading art academies in Europe and the largest arts university in Switzerland; with 2,500 students studying design, film, fine arts, music, dance, theatre, transdisciplinary studies and the teaching of arts and design.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Paula Clemente Vega, Marketing Officer for the Open Library of Humanities, welcomed Zurich University of the Arts: "We’re so pleased to see that in the context of Plan S many European institutions are deciding to invest in sustainable non-APC OA business models. It is thanks to the support of our members that we can continue to provide high-quality OA in the humanities, without ever asking authors to pay.”

Jan Melissen, Head of the Media and Information Centre (MIZ), added: “ZHdK adopted its own Open Access Policy last year. Innovative publication models like the OLH and the videographic Journal of Embodied Research are crucial to establish Open Access in the field of arts, music and design. Supporting the OLH with a membership encourages the adoption of Open Access at ZHdK.”
