Davidson College joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that Davidson College has joined the Open Library of Humanities' Library Partnership Subsidy system. Davidson College seeks out intellectually curious students who are committed to developing their talents for lives of leadership and service. Small classes enable Davidson's renowned faculty to work closely with students, engaging them directly in original research and creative work across the arts, sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee. Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Davidson joining the OLH's international network of library partners: “I am delighted that Davidson College has joined the OLH model. Through our model, which allows anyone who can pass a rigorous peer-review process to publish, we aim to ensure that the broadest set of communities can benefit from open-access to humanities research. With the help of institutions like Davidson we will expand this model.”

Park Director of the Davidson College Library, said of the announcement: “The Davidson College Library is proud to support the Open Library of the Humanities. We believe in open access and new models of funding scholarly publication, and we applaud the important work OLH is doing toward those ends.”
