UKSG Podcast with Dr Caroline Edwards

Posted by Dr Caroline Edwards on 18 February 2025

Our Executive Director Dr Caroline Edwards was recently interviewed by the UK Serials Group (UKSG) as part of their podcast series, "Knowing Me, Knowing UKSG." Caroline spoke about her career journey as a literature scholar, co-founding the OLH, and what her current role involves.

Caroline also discusses the scholarly communications landscape and her mission at OLH to address the problems of the journals "serials crisis," tackling the stranglehold of shareholder-driven commercial entities that control much of academic journals publishing worldwide.

As she says: "I'm very passionate about what I do and because I still am a practising academic, as it were, I wear two hats - I'm here as a scholar [as well as a publisher] and it means an enormous amount to me that I can advocate on behalf of other scholars in the humanities and on behalf of different disciplinary and research communities. We're here to build something, we're here to effect change and that feels amazing, that's why it feels like such a privilege."
