Caroline Edwards discusses the future of Open Access publishing at LSE event

This past January, our Executive Director, Professor Caroline Edwards, was invited to speak at the Open Access and the Commons: The many faces of scholar-led publishing event, organised by the LSE Open Research Community.
The discussion explored the future of open access publishing and the role of scholar-led, community-driven models in creating a more equitable scholarly communication landscape. Caroline shared insights on the importance of supporting diamond open access, the need for greater advocacy and awareness among researchers, and the lessons that can be learned from established open access infrastructures around the world, particularly from Latin America.
The LSE Open Research Community has now published a reflection on the event, “What is the Future of Open Access Publishing?”, which brings together insights from the speakers and explores some of the key questions raised during the discussion, including the future of scholar-led publishing, sustainability, and the transition towards more community-driven approaches to open access.
