We offer hosting and support services to independent journals, scholarly societies, and library publishers. Our tech team are experienced in migrating journals from other publishing platforms and can help you set up smoothly.
Bespoke hosting.
Janeway is a complete publishing workflow management system which we built from the ground up. We can provide such a bespoke hosting service for Janeway users because we are not a tech company: we are a publishing company, who develop technology to help us publish. And we then help other people to do the same.
Clients choose to be hosted by us because it allows them to leverage our technology while remaining independent. We are proudly academic-owned, not-for-profit and work closely with our users to build the platform in response to community needs. Because we are not-for-profit, we can also offer cutting-edge technology at very competitive prices by comparison to the sector standard.
If you have the tech resources, you can run Janeway yourself, because it is and will always be open-source software. If not, we are here to help. We can set you up with your own Janeway-powered website (hosting), where all you’ll have to do is log in, set up your journal, and start publishing.
How it works.
Deciding to move your journal to a new platform can be a daunting prospect. However, our in-house tech team have refined the process of journal migration through years of experience running our own journals. They write bespoke open-source code to translate the proprietary software often provided by commercial academic publishers, so that your journal’s back content and all metadata can be easily moved across.
As a small, friendly team, OLH software engineers will lead you through the process, helping you design your new website, customise functionality and appearance, choose your own article template with our typesetter, and provide training to your editors in using the Janeway platform. Once your journal has launched, we will add all published content to our indexing and archiving services.
