Meet the Team
The Open Library of Humanities team are based at Birkbeck, University of London, and are part of the Department of English, Theatre and Creative Writing in the School of Arts, and the Centre for Technology and Publishing.
Dr Rose Harris-Birtill
Rose Harris Birtill is the Acting Director and Managing Editor of the Open Library of Humanities. Rose has a PhD in English from the University of St Andrews, where she is also an Honorary Lecturer, and is Head of Editorial at OLH. She is the editor of the C21 Literature journal special collection on David Mitchell, author of David Mitchell's Post-Secular World: Buddhism, Belief and the Urgency of Compassion (2019), and Secretary for the British Association of Contemporary Literature Studies.
Editorial and Marketing
Paula Clemente Vega
Paula Clemente Vega is the Marketing Officer for the Open Library of Humanities where she is in charge of OLH memberships and of increasing the visibility of the OLH through outreach, marketing and advocacy. She is a doctoral candidate in arts and humanities at Birkbeck, University of London and a co-editor of the Open Library of the Humanities journal special collection "Colonialities in Dispute: Discourses on Colonialism and Race in the Spanish State".
Dr Katherine Parker-Hay
Katherine Parker-Hay is an Editorial Officer for the Open Library of Humanities where she oversees editorial processes and production. She has a PhD from the University of Sussex and has been involved with various research projects seeking to make universities more equitable and accessible. She has also worked with the NHS, designing creative writing programmes to tackle anxiety and depression.
Dr Simon Everett
Simon Everett is an Editorial Officer for the Open Library of Humanities, where he oversees editorial processes and production. He is a poet and poet-translator; his work has appeared in Free Verse journal, Chinese Arts and Letters journal and STAND magazine. His latest pamphlet of poetry, Tamám, was published by Litmus Press in 2020. Simon holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Essex and is the Editor-in-Chief of Muscaliet Press.
Technical and Development
Andy is a Senior Publishing Technology Developer at Birkbeck, University of London, operating as part of the Centre for Technology and Publishing. Andy leads development of the Janeway journal management system project and is also the principle contact for all things Janeway as a service.
Mauro is a Senior Publishing Technology Developer at Birkbeck, University of London, operating as part of the Centre for Technology and Publishing. Mauro is in charge of managing development processes and operations for the Janeway project.
Joe is a Publishing Technologies Developer at Birkbeck, University of London, operating as part of the Centre for Technology and Publishing. His primary role is that of a developer on the Janeway project. Joe holds an MA in English from Georgetown University and an MS in Information from the University of Michigan.
Lindsey Beth Zelvin
Lindsey is in the first year of her PhD in Narrative Nonfiction at the University of Kent in Canterbury. Her work investigates the methodologies and ethical responsibilities involved in creating narrative representations of chronic mental illness.
