Liverpool John Moores University joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that Liverpool John Moores University has joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system. A strong teaching and research institution, Liverpool John Moores University was one of the highest climbers nationally in the UK’s 2014 Research Excellence Framework, which assesses the quality of research.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Liverpool John Moores: “I am delighted that Liverpool John Moores university has joined the OLH LPS model. The benefits of OA are clear – take the fact that Liverpool John Moores-based author, Professor Helen Rogers published an article in OLH that had over 2,000 views in its first day – but we do need new models to make this a reality. With the help of institutions like Liverpool John Moores, we will expand the OLH platform and contribute to a viable transition.”

Journals wishing to join the platform should submit an initial enquiry to martin.eve@openlibhums.org. After the September launch of the OLH, applications will be be subject to the platform's joining procedure.
