University of Oregon joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that the University of Oregon Libraries has joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system. The University of Oregon is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities—one of only 36 public institutions belonging to this organization of top research universities. AAU members are on the leading edge of innovation and scholarship that contribute to the nation’s economy, security, and well-being. Oregon is founded on and committed to a tradition of classic liberal arts education.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs through payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Oregon: “I am delighted that Oregon has supported the Open Library of Humanities LPS model. Institutions of all shapes and sizes can benefit from open access, but only if we do it in a way that doesn’t damage the potential for the humanities to thrive. With the help of institutions like Oregon, this is what we aim to achieve.”

Journals wishing to join the platform should submit an initial enquiry to martin.eve@openlibhums.org. After the September launch of the OLH, applications will be be subject to the platform’s joining procedure.
