We are extremely pleased to announce that Uppsala University has joined the Open Library of Humanities' Library Partnership Subsidy system. Uppsala University is the first university in Sweden, founded in 1477, with 45,000 students here. The university pursues world-class research and high quality education for the benefit of society and business on a global level.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With initial funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Uppsala: “I am delighted that Uppsala University has become the first Swedish institution to join the OLH LPS model. The truly global consortium that we are building will ensure a fair way to open access journals in the humanities disciplines.”

Christer Lagvik, Uppsala University Library, added: “We believe that initiatives like OLH will pave the way for Open Access in the Humanities”.
