Corban University joins OLH library consortium

We're extremely pleased to announce that Corban University has joined the Library Partnership Subsidy system that supports the Open Library of Humanities. Corban is located in Salem, Oregon and fuses a strong Christian ethos with academic rigour across all disciplines: from education to business and from counseling to political science.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation-funded, gold open-access publisher with strong principles of quality control and peer review. Unlike many gold open-access publishers, though, the OLH has no author-facing charges; we believe these to be potentially damaging in the humanities disciplines. Instead, an international consortium of library shares the costs of publications as a cost pool.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, one of the founders and academic project directors of the OLH, welcomed Corban: “We are extremely pleased that Corban University has joined the OLH LPS consortium. The aim for the funding system that we have created is to pragmatically implement a way of sharing the costs of research publication, on a not-for-profit basis, in an equitable way.”

Garrett Trott, Corban Reference/Instruction Librarian, added: “We are excited to see OLH’s effort to broaden the open access horizon to include the humanities. Because of this, we wanted to participate and encourage the full fruition of OLH.”
