Tufts

We're extremely pleased to announce that Tufts University has joined the Library Partnership Subsidy system that financially supports the Open Library of Humanities. Tufts is a leader in American higher education, distinctive for its success as a moderately sized university that excels at research and is committed to providing students with a personal experience. Tufts is a blend of both a research university and a liberal arts college, a unique combination that attracts students, faculty and staff who thrive in an environment of curiosity, creativity and engagement.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, Mellon-funded, open-access publisher with strong principles of peer review. Instead of charging author-facing fees for open access, as do many commercial publishers, the OLH is underwritten by an international library consortium who pool costs to get the best return for all.

Dr. Martin Paul Eve, one of the founders and academic project directors of the OLH, welcomed Tufts: “I am so pleased that Tufts has joined the Open Library of Humanities' LPS model. We believe that the best return to society from university research will be achieved through open access. However, this must be implemented in a sensitive way that reflects disciplinary diversity and that is what underpins our sustainability model. With the support of institutions like Tufts, we hope to substantially advance OA in the humanities.”

Libraries outside the US and UK interested in joining the OLH Library Partnership Subsidy model should contact Dr. Martin Paul Eve: martin.eve@openlibhums.org. UK-based libraries will shortly be able to join through Jisc Collections. US-based libraries can join through LYRASIS at https://lyrasis.openlibhums.org.
