On Thursday 26 June, during the annual meeting of the SCONUL UK library community, Dr. Martin Eve (Co-Director of the Open Library of Humanities), launched the call for UK library participation in the platform's collaborative funding mechanism. Aptly addressing the topic of the "Open Library," the 2014 SCONUL meeting was attended by many prominent representatives of the UK academic library sector.

The call for participation will enable the OLH to prepare not only for launch, but for crucial sustainability from day one. Our model of co-operative finance (the Library Partnership Subsidy scheme) and collaborative library governance, along with the sanction of prominent members of the global humanities community, means that a scalable approach to gold open access without author-facing charges moves one step closer.

The call is administered by Jisc Collections, the UK's premier library content intermediary with an extensive portfolio of experience in open access procurement.
