UiT Arctic University of Norway

We are extremely pleased to announce that UiT The Arctic University of Norway has joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed the Arctic University of Norway: “We are delighted that UiT has joined the OLH LPS system. UiT The Arctic University of Norway has been a staunch ally of the open-access community for many years and we are delighted to have our support in delivering our model for OA in the humanities; without any APC.”

Johanne Raade, director of the UiT University Library, is very glad that UiT finally has joined OLH as the second institution in Norway: “We have been waiting for OLH to be recognised by the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, as this is a prerequisite for UiT’s publication fund to support Open Access publications. We warmly embrace Open Access initiatives like OLH, especially because of their future plans in the monograph space. OLH has an excellent business model for humanities scholars who want to make their research openly available at low cost.” UiT researchers may contact Aysa Ekanger (email: aysa.ekanger@uit.no, phone: 776 44140), for more information about OLH.
