University of Arizona Libraries Launches its Publication Platform With Janeway

We are delighted to announce that the University of Arizona Libraries recently launched with Janeway to host their university journals in our open access publishing platform.

The University of Arizona Libraries were established in 1891 when the University of Arizona was founded. Today, the organization employs nearly 200 faculty and staff in five locations: the Main Library, the Albert B. Weaver Science-Engineering Library, the Health Sciences Library, the Fine Arts Library, and Special Collections. Their mission includes cultivating an environment that promotes inquiry, creative endeavor, scholarly communication and lifelong learning, enriching the lives of Arizonans, and contributing to an expanding global academic community. The new partnership with Janeway, as well as the recent library support of the Open Library of Humanities, will help strengthen the library commitment to open access, and provide a publishing platform for its array of open access journals.

Janeway is a digital platform designed for publishing scholarly research material. Launched in 2017, the platform provides a workflow for the submission, processing and presentation of scholarly materials. It is developed by Professor Martin Eve, Mauro Sanchez and Andy Byers at the Centre for Technology and Publishing, Birkbeck, University of London, and the Open Library of Humanities, UK. Andy Byers’ Lead Developer for Janeway said of the launch: "We initially developed Janeway with the Open Library of Humanities in mind, however, quickly became aware that others were looking for the same solutions. We're very excited to be hosting the University of Arizona Libraries journals and to be working with them to develop Janeway further."

"The University of Arizona Libraries and our journal publishing partners are excited to transition our titles to the Janeway platform," said Ellen Dubinsky, University of Arizona Scholarly Communication Librarian. “We have found an ideal partner in Janeway and the Open Library of Humanities. We not only benefit from using their robust publishing platform, but we can continue to demonstrate our support of community-led open access infrastructure."
