Posted by Dr Paula Clemente Vega on 16 October 2020

We are very pleased to announce that Michigan Publishing Services has partnered with Janeway to migrate their journals to our open access publishing platform. Michigan Publishing Services is part of the hub of scholarly publishing at the University of Michigan (Michigan Publishing), together with the University of Michigan Press and Deep Blue, the university’s institutional repository. As experts in scholarly publishing, Michigan Publishing Services provide a suite of publishing-related services to the University of Michigan to help increase the visibility, reach, and impact of scholarship. This new partnership with Janeway will provide publishing infrastructure for the submission, curation, processing and preservation of the more than 40 mostly open access journals that are published by Michigan Publishing Services.
Janeway is a digital platform designed for publishing scholarly research material. Launched in 2017, the platform provides a workflow for the submission, processing and presentation of scholarly materials. It is developed by Professor Martin Eve, Mauro Sanchez and Andy Byers at the Centre for Technology and Publishing, Birkbeck, University of London, and the Open Library of Humanities, UK. Andy Byers’ Lead Developer for Janeway commented on the launch: "We are very excited to be working with Michigan Publishing to host the submission platform for their journals. Initially a tailored solution this new submission only feature is now available for anyone who wants to use it. We look forward to collaborating with the Fulcrum team to bring Janeway and Fulcrum closer together."
"We strongly support the movement toward open source scholarly communication infrastructure, so it was an easy choice for us to select Janeway for our next-generation journals platform,” said Jason Colman, Director of Michigan Publishing Services and Senior Associate Librarian. “We’re excited to work with the Janeway team, who are closely aligned with our mission of making library-based publishing sustainable and high-impact."
