Six journals to join OLH later this year
Posted by on 2016-08-25
We are extremely pleased to announce that six journals are to join the Open Library of Humanities platform later this year. The voting process was highly competitive, with sixteen applications to join the platform in the Spring-Summer 2016 period. All applications were sent to leading external academic specialists in a rigorous process of double peer review, and a shortlist of six journals were recommended by the editorial team to the OLH's library board. 89.19% of the OLH Library Board voted in favour of all six journals joining. No library voted against all of the journals joining and the remaining 11% were split between the others.
This will bring the number of journals published on the OLH platform to 18 journals, covering the disciplines of: Architectural Studies, Asian Studies, Comics Scholarship, Contemporary Literature, Cultural Studies, Digital Humanities, Linguistics, Performance & Screen Studies, Phonology, Renaissance & Early Modern Literature, and Victorian Studies; as well as the OLH megajournal which publishes across the humanities disciplines.
Full details of the new OLH journals will be released over the coming weeks.
Finally, we are also announcing an official OLH policy change on journals applications to join our publishing platform – to be applied until further notice. From 2017, the Open Library of Humanities will only consider applications from existing, subscription journals and will not be able to accept applications from journals that are already open access or from editors wishing to set up new journals. This is an important part of our transition strategy in building a long-term sustainable future for open access publishing by saving on subscription library costs for our international network of library parners who generously support the cost of publication for all OLH journals.
