The Open University joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that the Open University has joined the Open Library of Humanities membership scheme. The Open University promotes educational opportunity and social justice by providing high-quality university education to all who wish to realise their ambitions and fulfil their potential. Through academic research, pedagogic innovation and collaborative partnership the Open University seek to be a world leader in the design, content and delivery of supported open learning.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed the Open University: “The Open University has been a pioneering in ensuring that those who wish to access higher education may do so, regardless of their background. As such, we feel a particular affinity with the mission of the Open University and are delighted that the institution has joined our membership scheme that means that we do not have author fees for open access in the humanities.”
