Portland State University joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that Portland State University Library has joined the Open Library of Humanities' Library Partnership Subsidy system. PSU is Oregon's urban research university located in the heart of downtown and is ranked as one of the nation's "most innovative" universities by U.S. News & World Report. The university provides civic leadership, harnessing the strengths of community engagement. Through strong alliances with industry, government agencies, and other universities, PSU serves as a catalyst for innovation and prosperity for the region.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Portland State: “I am delighted that Portland State has joined the OLH model. It is clear that open access can bring huge advantages to the humanities disciplines but also equally clear that we need a better way than article processing charges to achieve this. With the help of institutions like Portland State we will continue to expand our model for open access in the humanities.”
