Joseph Muller
Joe is a rare breed of academic-turned-developer who, alongside his technical software-building skills, is also a Fulbright scholar and professionally accredited librarian. He holds an MA in English from Georgetown University and a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan, and has nearly a decade of experience working in academic publishing.
Building on these dual specialisms, Joe enjoys working across teams to build tools and features that solve specific problems in humanities scholarship. Alongside his work on Janeway, he also lectures on web development for Birkbeck’s MA programme in Digital Media Design.
Joe is also a self-confessed travel geek and armchair urban planner who enjoys Dutch-style cycling and following the small-town dramas of local transportation politics and community-building. He has lived in the US, Poland, Belgium and the UK, speaks Polish, and is often permitted to work by his loyal rescue cats Ichabod and Matilda.
