Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum joins OLH LPS model

We are extremely pleased to announce that Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum (RUB) has joined the Open Library of Humanities' Library Partnership Subsidy system. With over 115 million euros of external research funding per year and numerous prize-winning academics, Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum is an acclaimed research university in the heart of Germany. Since 2014 RUB supports open access through an OA fund which the university library administrates. The University Library also supports academic researchers at the RUB with the two open access publishing platforms and services OMP and OJS.

The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum: “It is fantastic to have Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum on board with our model. When institutions recognize that there are benefits of open access to the humanities, society as a whole reaps the rewards.”
